In Memory

THIS PAGE DISPLAYS RESIDENTS OF WATERFORD WHO HAVE PASSED AND WHO HAVE DEDICATED A LARGE PART OF THEIR LIVES TO BENEFIT OUR COMMUNITY.

Don Schmidt

Donald Charles Schmitt
December 27, 1923 ~ January 30, 2007

Don was formerly a Councilman of Waterford Borough and was active with the Tree Committee, which is responsible for planting and maintaining trees in the Borough. Much of his work over the years has earned Waterford's recognition as a "Tree City USA" by the Arbor Day Foundation

His other memberships included the Waterford Masonic Lodge #425, a life member of the United Transportation Union, Asbury United Methodist Church of Waterford, the American Legion Post 285, VMB 433, a group of retired Marine Air Corps veterans, and the "Rusty Nails", a group of retired railroad men.

Jeanette Brown

Jeanette Louise Brown
June 26 1947 ~ June 10 2005

For several years she was a member of the Waterford Borough Council, serving as Vice-President and as a member of the Streets and Parks Committees. She was honored by the Borough for her service as Head of Parks by having the "Waterford Corner", the flag display, bench, and fountain area of the Waterford Park, dedicated to her name. She founded, developed, and organized the Waterford Summer Youth Program and the Waterford Community Garage Sale Days. Her interest in preserving and maintaining Lake LeBoeuf lead to her organization of the Lake LeBoeuf Restoration Project. She volunteered with the Waterford Fair and served as Recorder of the tractor pulls.

She was a member of the Executive Board of the Erie County Planning Commission and in her last surviving week, received their service and dedication award. She was a lifelong and active member of St. Cyprian Catholic Church, now All Saints Church, a member of the Waterford Lioness Club, the Mill Village Elementary School PTA, and the Waterford Historical Society. She played on and coached Mill Village Girls Softball teams, and organized and designed the "Marie Wick Family" parade float which was popular for several years in Waterford parades.

Jeanette had a great sense of humor and always showed kindness and consideration to everyone. Just as she was giving in life, she was giving in death, having donated her body to medical research.

Jeanette was truly loved and will be remembered by all those who knew her. I for one, miss her very much. She was a very dear friend.
